Some passions are born with us. For Pastor Dumiso Matshazi, that passion was music. “I think I was born to sing,” he shares, recalling a childhood in the village where his voice was the only instrument he had. He sang in school and in church, a constant rhythm to his life, though a career in music seemed an unrealistic dream for a young African Christian man. Instead, he chose ministry, a path that would still allow him to keep his love for music alive by founding choirs and training others.
Years passed, and as retirement approached, Pastor Matshazi began searching for a new purpose—a meaningful business to build upon his life’s work. This search led him to Elder Taurayi Majoni, who introduced him to Mr. Mohit, an instrument manufacturer from India. Through what he describes as God’s perfect timing, and their shared entrepreneurial drive, a new vision took shape.
This vision became Dutau, a company born from a dream nurtured for years. It’s a testament to the power of shared purpose and the belief that it’s never too late to pursue a lifelong passion. But for Pastor Matshazi, Dutau is more than just a business; it’s a multi-generational legacy in the making. He sees it as a brand with African roots and global aspirations.
With a determined spirit and a collaborative team, he concludes, “We’re all hands on deck, and this is just the beginning.”
